Brighton's Beardyman Wins The 2006 UK Beatbox ChampionshipsBeatboxing, is the art of making multiple musical noise at one time with only the use of ones mouth, literally being a human 'beatbox'. It has recently gained mainstream popularity beyond its hip hop roots and blossomed into an art form all of its own.

The 2nd annual UK beatbox Championships National final was held in Cargo, Shoreditch last week to a packed out crowd of enthused, fans and  friends of the 8 best regional beatboxers in the country.

Brighton's Beardyman Wins The 2006 UK Beatbox ChampionshipsAn  intense combination of deafening crowd response and decisions by a panel of internationally renonwned beatboxer/judges saw Beardyman battle through 2 replay tie breakers to emerge the UK's best beatboxer 2006. He will now be proudly representing the UK in the world championships in Tokyo in December.

Beardyman, (real name Darren Foreman) moved to Brighton in 2001 to study at  University, where he very quickly started creating a stir, gigging on campus constantly, playing in bands and an improvised comedy troup. After seeing Rahzel play live however, his focus changed and once he had debuted his beatbox talents at an improv show in 2003, the gigs started to roll in and since then he has wowed and baffled audiences all over the UK and Europe, hosted nights, MC'd, sung, compaired and played all over the place.

He presented Get-lucky T.V's 'The Freestyle Show', hosted the 'Nokia Basketball Arena' in the 'Earls Court Urban Music Festival' and has performed with and supported the likes of Grooverider, Shy fx, Killa Kela, Phi-Life Cypher, Andy C and Jazzy Jeff amongst others, quickly earning him a reputation as an multi-talented, innovative and exhilerating live performer.

Beardyman will be touring the UK in October and November, headlining venues with his jaw dropping, full-on set which employs cutting edge live sampling technology and vocal effects processing to make audiences go completely mental, taking the art of vocal performance to an entirely new level.

If your lucky enough to live in Brighton check out his and DJ JFB's live 5 hour jam session battle Jam at Alicats. Where the magic and mayhem is created and honed up close and personal with plenty of crowd participation which is then sampled and scratched and beat-juggled until the crowd reaches a state of fit-like ecstacy... It must be seen to be believed.

An  album and several collaborative projects are in the pipeline alongside a winter tour of the UK and Europe.
