J-Dilla Changed My LifeTo mark the 1st Anniversary of his passing on 10th February 2006 & to celebrate what would have been his 33rd Birthday on 7th February 2007 The Doctor’s Orders have decided to throw a party dedicated to the memory and the music of this incredible Hip-Hop producer.

In his brief 32 years J-Dilla, otherwise known as Jay-Dee or James Yancey created and shaped a new sound for Hip-Hop that inspired beatsmiths, MCs and music lovers around the globe. With an incredible line of production credits for De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Erykah Badu, The Parcyde, Janet Jackson, Busta Rhymes, Common, D’Angelo, his own crew Slum Village and so many more it is little wonder that J-Dilla has been described as a visionary, a genius & the quintessential producers’ producer by some of the most respected names in the game. The fact that both Pharell Williams & Kanye West name him as their major inspiration speaks volumes to the influence of his distinctive “Dilla sound”.

Performing on the night will be The Extended Players. The UK’s strongest Hip-Hop DJ dream team will be represented on the night by Shortee Blitz (Kiss FM), Mr Thing & Harry Love. With a wealth of club, radio, production, mixtape & battle experience between them they are without a doubt the most versatile and well rounded team on the scene.

Having both played at the launch party for J-Dilla’s last project “The Shining” (BBE Records) both Benji B (1Xtra) & Marc Mac (4Hero / Visioneers) are back on board again to show the influence his incredible body of work had on them as DJs & producers.

Having worked with the man himself on 2 full length album projects BBE’s head honcho Pete Adarkwah needed no encouragement to come on board to show his love for J-Dilla and his beats.

DJ Spin Doctor is firstly a massive fan of J-Dilla and as the driving force behind The Doctor’s Orders promotions there was no way this event was not going to happen to celebrate the memory of this great man. Representing in style on the night will be DJ Rags who has never played a set without at least one Dilla beat slipped in somewhere!
