 Foot Locker is proud to present Mr Midas in selected stores across the UK as winner of The Foot Locker sponsored Best Newcomer award at this year’s UK Urban Music Awards. The Urban Music Awards took place in London on 3 November. Mr Midas beat off competition from T Plan B, N-Dubz, Pyrelli, Tinchy Strider and Natalie Williams to be awarded The Best Newcomer title, sponsored by Foot Locker.
The award has launched many urban stars on the road to success, including Dizzee Rascal (2003 winner), Kano (2004 winner), Sway (2005 winner) and Soundbwoy (2006 winner). Mr Midas, a modern day dancehall act, came to the music scene’s attention when he appeared in T4’s popular show ‘Musicool’. As one of the most popular artists on the show, Mr. Midas’ fan base is going from strength to strength. Mr.Midas will be doing a series of one-off appearances in Foot Locker across the UK to celebrate his success. To celebrate the sponsorship of the UMA Best Newcomer Award, Foot Locker also launched a search for the people’s choice of Best Newcomer sneaker of 2007. Votes were collected both online at www.footlocker.eu and in-store at Foot Locker and the undisputed winner for 2007 is the Adidas Superstar sneaker. Runners up included the Puma Yo MTV Rap Doug E Fresh, Nike Tuned 1 Camo, Nike X-rod and Adidas End to End Scien sneaker.
