In the evening there will be a closing concert in the Purcell Room, featuring an international line-up of beatbox artists, including Beardyman, the UK Champion, Roxorloops, the Belgian Champion, closing with Shlomo and the Vocal Orchestra.

This is the third such event, with previous World Beatbox Conventions taking place in both London and New York City. In previous years, beatbox enthusiasts have travelled from as far as Australia, Russia, Canada and the USA to take part in this event.

The first Convention was organised in 2003 by Alex Tew, the founder of international beatbox portal humanbeatbox.com, who later came to fame with his Million Dollar Homepage project.

This year the Convention appears as part of the Ether Festival series of concerts at the South Bank. The festival also features concerts from artists as diverse as Barry Adamson, Blixa Bargeld, Gruf Rhys, Uri Caine, Toshio Iwai, Tunng, and Andy Votel.
