Following both critically acclaimed album ‘The Work Related Illness’ and mixtape ‘Contagious Vol. 1’ releases, one fourth of this colossal quartet has returned to spit more fire and continue to spread his own strain of virally infectious lyricism from up north to down south, from the UK, world wide!
As contagious as ever, this instalment of Nika D hugely active career sees him return under a new label, Aphex Records. As part of Virus Syndicate, Nika D has embarked on a huge sixty date European tour and had a slew of radio / industry support from the likes of Liam Howlett, Rob Da Bank, Ross Allen, Mary Ann Hobbs, Tim Westwood (to name a few!). With this, his first solo venture, he looks to establish himself as a talent in his own right.
'Felt The Need', a collaboration with Parisian producer DJ Absurd, is a fantastic launch pad and a sonic return to form for this Manchester bred wordsmith. The track takes the listener on a gritty journey through the beaten rain soaked back streets of Manchester as Nika D unravels a yarn of frustration and social angst over DJ Absurd's moody layered strings and dub tinged backdrop.
As a bonus fellow Virus Syndicate member MRK1 adds his own pepper hot spice to the pot providing a scorching bass driven vocal remix and dub, as if the original mix wasn’t hot enough already.
Felt The Need is available on Aphex Records from 30th July 2007.
