Dubbledge - The Richest Man In Babylon LP [Lowlife]Undoubtedly the cleverest MC in the UK right now and one of the few that can bridge the gap between the energy of Grime and the lyricism of Rap, Dubbledge’s first album for the UK’s cult Hip Hop label Low Life is a bumper collection of tracks laced with a welcome dose of intelligence, wit and a charismatic swagger.

Edge’s work so far with the likes of Scratch Perverts, DJ Vadim, Braintax, Jehst, Foreign Beggars, Micall Parknsun and DJ IQ has given him a firm grounding and growing reputation on the well-established Hip Hop underground and live circuit. The maturity of his lyrics should now see him turn some heads outside the usual circles.

Watford resident Dubbledge describes himself as ‘the oldest newcomer in the game’, a true individual helped by being so removed from the London scene, he has a sharp, light-hearted take on Hip Hop and specialises in well-rounded songs with strong concepts. Behind the boards on ‘The Richest Man In Babylon’ you’ll find producers such as DJ Vadim, LG and Dag Nabbit (Foreign Beggars) and guest features come courtesy of Micall Parknsun and Skrein.

Touching on the trials and tribulations of modern Britain, whether it’s the mundanity of tell-lie-vision, the turmoils and jokes of the boy-girl scenario, racial politics or just wise people-watching, Edge has created an album that speaks volumes about how and why we live like we do in 2007. It’s not just what the man says, but how he says it.
