Anyone who knows anything knows that the Hot Natured party at the W Hotel in Barcelona was held on Friday 18th June. With guest list only entry, people were frantically emailing any address that they thought might gain them entry into the party. Sometimes a number of times to see if they could increase their chances of getting in… And it was well worth it.
The Hot Natured label consists of Jamie Jones (UK) and Lee Foss (LA) and these two are well worth checking out. You can find them in the usual places such as Resident Advisor, Myspace, Facebook etc, etc. The actual line up of the day was: Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Dyed Soundorom, Tom Craven and Subb-An, Richy Ahmed.
The party started at 12 o’clock and people started to arrive at around 11:30 with a mixture of early bird embarrassment and last nights self-maltreatment smeared over their faces. These expressions changed when the doors opened and half and hour later the doors were rammed with people trying to get in. Some with names on the guest list and some without. I myself witnessed a few people using other party goers names by just pointing and saying “yep, that’s me”… and it worked! I can only imagine the fury that the genuine applicant felt when they discovered that they couldn’t get in.
The music basically rocked the house all day. Perfect for a hot, sunny day on the rooftop of a top Barcelona hotel abutting the pale blue seas and white beaches. It was almost impossible to have a bad time with virtually seamless mixes (except where it was purposeful not to be) and a great vibe and crowd interaction from all of the DJ’s that day. A BIG shout to Jamie Jones and Tom Craven!
Although it was Sonar week, hardly any of the people I went with actually got to the actual Sonar event. This is probably because there are so many amazing parties like this one during this week. I didn’t manage to get to Sonar either, I ended up going to some other first-class events… which you’ll find in my other reviews.
