You know the name!!! If not you’re seriously sleeping. After the tremendous success of the Play To Win Volume 1 and arguably one of the best albums of 2006 The Borrowed Ladder on Lowlife Records, Savvy is back with another murderous instalment of the Play To Win saga, Play To Win volume 2.

The Gramaphone Bar was nearly at full capacity when Stylah and fellow Poisonous Poets, Tony D and Reveal walked on stage with their collection of tracks to perform. They started with a group track 'Here I Am' which got the crowd ready for the rest of the heat that the Poets were about to unleash. Stylah performed 'Snips In The Mix' though without the ever poisonous DJ Snips and the energy was accelerated.

The disc is full of wait-worthy surprises and experimentation with different sounds and genres that works better than many of the mainstream collabs we've seen recently from the likes of Kano and Lethal B. Including Andrew Dummett's 'Turn Around' featuring KC - with an indescribable electronica vibe to it, 'Not To Be 4gotten' featuring Daryl Bar - which has a rowdy rock feel and 'Thank U Riddem' which (thank you KC pays some dues to bangin' Bhangra.

Most up and coming crews around nowadays are more likely to cite T.I than Tragedy Kahdafi or Kanye West before Killah Priest as an influence, but then this isn’t most crews… Triple Darkness are the sum of two mighty parts, the first being The Heresy (Cyrus Malachi & Nasheron) and joining them to completing the trio M9ine, the underground wordsmith responsible for the one of the most gritty debut mixtapes, ‘High Fidelity’.

Nicolay is best known as the producing half of The Foreign Exchange, whose debut album Connected made a huge impact. Since then, he has produced for Little Brother, Supastition, Masta Ace, Strange Fruit Project and Zion I, remixed tracks for Roy Ayers, Bob James, Candy Dulfer and many others and has now started his own label.

DJ Krush, was born in 1962 in Tokyo. After watching the film "Wild Style" in the early 80s, he was inspired, bought some turntables, and started to learn the art of turntablism. In 1987, along with DJs like DJ Muro, he formed the Krush Posse, which made numerous appearances as a group in late 1992 and gained him recognition by becoming the first DJ in Japan to perform with live musicians.

Accomplished Hip Hop don of the decks, DJ Vadim, presented his new live show to an appreciative Rhythm Factory last Thursday. It was very big indeed. Entitled 'Soundcatcher Live' it featured One Self cohort Yarah Bravo and Belleruche's Katherine De Boer - complemented by bongos for good measure. |
