Razor - Reinventing CD [Ruthless]

Razor – Reinventing CD [Ruthless]

Reinventing is the new release from North West London Grime and Hip-Hop artist Razor. Following up from last years mixtape Venting, Razor once again drops his trademark precision flow over some diverse production dropping introspective narratives with a thoughtfulness sometimes forgotten in the music, while balancing out the mixtape with more kinetic tunes also.

Foreign Beggars

Foreign Beggars

It may sound dramatic, but 2003 was a historical year: the invasion of Iraq took place and the Foreign Beggars released their debut album ‘Asylum Speakers’. Since then they have been like herpes, coming back when you least expect it. So after catching up with them via World Wide Web, we spoke about why Jeremy Kyle is needed to mediate the abundance of unused tooth brushes, fanatical fans and the consequences of eating spicy food.

Canadian rapper / producer Moka Only teams up with Swiss beatmaker Chief for the finest indie hip-hop album you might hear this year, "Crickets". The album showcases the talent of two very gifted artists, pushing the boundaries of hip-hop while preserving its backbone. The album showcases Moka Only's unique raps fused with Chief's sound signature of merging straight hip-hop elements with forward-thinking production.

Lazy Habits

Lazy Habits

Mention the name Lazy Habits and a wealth of words comes to mind. Not only have they made the rounds to every festival going, they have also graced the same stage as the legendary Mos Def himself. Citing influences from Roots Manuva, to Nina Simone and even Prince this eight strong band definitely knows how to shake up the boundaries of hip-hop. It was pleasure to have a chinwag with James (the front man) to find out what these crazy kids are all about.

HLI - Omniglyph LP [Indie]

HLI – Omniglyph EP [Indie]

Listening too HLI's debut EP, Omniglyph is like having an orgasm (without a condom) whilst tripping on magic mushrooms or in short: mind blowing hip-hop. There is nothing more enjoyable when hip-hop boys go all science fiction on us and get it right; with tracks like Unseen Universe, Elai Immortal and Sensei C (the duo who form this group) assassinate this song and others with their weaponry of words.

Double AB ft. Iron Braydz – London Calling [Video]

New York's Double A.B. spent some time living in north London's Tottenham. As the news of the much publicized London riots of August 2011 spread globally, Double A.B. wrote the track London Calling reflecting on what he could see happening in his old neighbourhood. He got together with his old associate and fellow New Yorker Dub Sonata who produced the Clash sampled beat and then approached the UK's highly rated MC Iron Braydz to feature.
