The new EP ‘Things I Should Have Said A Year Ago‘ is Otis Mensah‘s first self-produced project laying out a seven song exploration of loss, grief and the feeling of being weathered by time. With its minimalist-jazz tones and a mellow sonic overcast, this piece of work highlights Otis’ signature free-form abstract-rap cadences filled with poetry of blues.
The first single Black Box spearheads with tender expression and radical honesty exhibiting the projects underlying mantra – that our human-experience of shame and fear can be adorned in rituals of song. This concept is reignited once again in Aurora Borealis that sees Otis accompany himsef on the piano for a ballad of ominous poetry and thrilleresque trepidation.
