Mersi has just dropped his third single, State of Mind, differing from the first two with its use of lo-fi sounds and the addition of male rapping. It preaches the message of insecurities that we can fall into at one time or another, with thoughts and feelings changing constantly. The song creates a longing for certainty and balance within these troubling moments, keeping fans interested in Mersi’s funkier side of electro dance music. This track is accompanied by a music video available on popular platforms, bringing it to life even further.
Involved in music since he was a child, Mersi surrounded himself with instruments, even learning to play the piano at just the age of 6. After graduating, Mersi has experienced and completed many projects, currently playing in the Děda Mládek Illegal Band. After founding the electroswing project, Mr.Elastik, in 2015, this artist started producing electronic beats with a clear passion, setting the standards for modern music. The 2020 pandemic was never going to stop Mersi from expressing himself musically, instead, encouraging him to create EDM tracks, and resulting in the making of the Mersi project.
Influenced by a wide range of artists including Stereo MCs, Groove Armada, Moby, Stakka Bo, Morcheeba, Spiller, Sonny Fodera, Fatboy Slim, Da Phazz, Us3, and Fort Knox Five amongst a long list of others, Mersi has managed to shape his original sound based on dance music. Using harmonic techniques and an influence from his career as a live musician, this artist has managed to capture an interesting mix of both worlds, alongside jazz techniques too. Also presently listening to DJ Jacky(UK), Mersi has been admiring the sounds and musical techniques used to influence his own funky music. Whilst his live music career has taken Mersi to many different places, he claims he doesn’t mind where he performs as long as there is an energy created between himself and the audience.
This artist mostly works in his home recording studio to bring his talent to life, programming the beat and creating the bass line. Being mostly just instrumental, Mersi enjoys layering instruments and sounds to create the perfect track before sending it to sound engineers and respected producer, Roman Rai.
What can we expect from this growing talent in the future? Whilst the Mersi project has got this artist producing a new song every sixth week, this is his main current focus. Of course, social media has been another crucial factor in developing this artist’s career, helping him connect to fans and inform them of new information about his music. Furthermore, admitting he would love to collaborate with Groove Armada, Parov Stelar or Us3, perhaps this is something we can look out for in the future! Stay tuned for more musical talent on its way from the fresh and contemporary Mersi.
