Tokin' Black GuyTokin’ Black Guy is an artist with a very different view than most of today’s rappers or MC’s. With more of a funk and electronic approach to his music but still with the real flavour of hip hop Tokin’ really is one of a kind and within a wide open genre of music.

I recently caught up with him during his UK trip to see what life is like for the modern day space cadet pushing to reach the stars!

Tell us a bit about yourself?

Tokin’ Black Guy: I live. I breathe. I think. I dream.

How did you come up with the name Tokin’ Black Guy?

Tokin' Black GuyTokin’ Black Guy: I was high and it just made sense… Lol… That’s the best way of describing how I came up with it, suits me though.

You are currently in the UK pushing your music, how has the UK differed from the USA thus far?

Tokin’ Black Guy: Music is different everywhere, but still inspiring. I am enjoying the UK vibe though, a lot different from the states yes, but has its own feel and approach.

Your sound is quite unique, where do you take your influence from and how would you best describe your music?

Tokin’ Black Guy: Pluto, Mars, sometimes Venus, just something from out of this world. My style is upbeat, everyone can get involved and just feel what I’m trying to get across.

What other plans do you have for 2009?

Tokin’ Black Guy: I want to see all of Earth, I want to travel and see the world, make connections and just generally progress further with my dream.

How long have you had an interest in music? Was it something you always dreamed of getting involved with?

Tokin’ Black Guy: Since signals from satellite radio have been created I had an interest in music. Ever since I've arrived on earth I have been influence by many genres of music all over this planet.

Bar music, what else keeps you busy?

Tokin’ Black Guy: Weed and the stars. It’s very relaxing.

Where do you aim to be career wise within the next three years?

Tokin’ Black Guy: I'd like to have completed my mission on earth. Music is universal so I have some work to do. I progress every year that I release music.

Where can the fans find out even more about you?

Tokin’ Black Guy: Keep up with me on myspace and youtube. http://www.myspace.com/tbgspaceship and http://www.youtube.com/itokinblackguy. Through the wire.

Any Shout's?

Underground PromotionTokin’ Black Guy: All the little space cadets. TBG is the future. Change is the good.
