A unique concept which makes the talented young people the priority, and works to train and prepare them intensively for a long-term career in all aspects of the entertainment industry by fusing together four separate creative initiatives, vocal artistry, fashion, media and music production. Project Talent bridges the gap between industry pathways and young creatives, with a programme that helps them progress within their careers through actual cross sector interaction.
Auditions began in June to find twelve vocalists, genuine untapped talent with the potential to forge careers with longevity, and the findings were exceptional! Project Talent scoured the UK with auditions held in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham and Manchester and the golden twelve will showcase their skills at the brand new state-of the art Indigo2 venue at the Greenwich O2 Centre on 2nd December.
Finalists have spent weeks studying at a residential academy for artists, producers, film makers and stylists. Creating a new record, music video and conducting and appearing in a photo shoot where they were styled and designed. All hands-on preparation for a career in entertainment.
Whatever the result on the night, the finalists have benefited from coaching from a stellar line-up of high profile, experienced industry figures. Vocal coach Senjay Luckey flew over from the U.S.A especially to work with the burgeoning artists. Having benefited from experience as both an artist (Senjay signed to BMG Publishing at just 16) and a song-writer and producer, Senjay has worked with Mary J Blige, SWV and Changing Faces to name a few.
Amina Taylor became the youngest ever Editor of Pride Magazine when she stepped into the role at just 24. Helping to enhance Europe’s leading lifestyle magazine for the woman of colour through interviews with stars such as Janet Jackson, P. Diddy and Dr Maya Angelou, Amina left Pride to begin a tremendously successful career writing for The Times, the Independent on Sunday and presenting the breakfast show on Colourful radio. Amina worked with the finalist as media tutor providing vital media training.
Song writer Michelle Escoffery needs no introduction. Having penned tracks for worldwide chart toppers, travelled the world as a performer and even bagging an Ivor Novello award for most performed song (Liberty X’s ‘Just a Little’) She’s the top of her game.
No stone was left unturned in the finalists training, and physical trainer Devrowe Hill worked with all twelve young people assisting them in achieving their weight goals and aims.
The rewards for the chosen individuals are magnificent. Outstanding artists will be offered development deals with Music World Entertainment, the international company founded and run by Beyonce Knowle’s father Matthew Knowles. Sony BMG and Shalit Global which represents Jamelia and N Dubz are also on hand to propel the ‘winner’ into a successful recording career. Virgin Records and Warner Records representatives will judge on the night.
What makes Project Talent such a special project is its focus. Totally committed to enhancing the lives and opportunities of the talent through training and preparation there is no hidden agenda with Project Talent. Even without the million pound budget of shows such as Simon Cowel’s X Factor, Project Talent are confidant that the stars of tomorrow which are set to emerge from the project will give the X Factor show contestants a competitive run for their money.
