Tinie Tempah19 year old British urban favourite Tinie Tempah has only been fighting forwards seen we first starting hearing his work three years ago. Now he has secured himself a stage, a crowd and an act to support that are well deserved. On 3rd July this year, Tinie will be performing onstage with none other than Mr Jay Z himself at O2 Wireless in London’s Hyde Park.

This is huge step forward for the British scene, with the Americans finally recognising some pure British talent - with Kelefa Sanneh writing in ‘The New York Times’:

‘His nerve, shifting rhyme schemes and even his accent (“can’t throw” becomes “cahn’t fro”) might charm American listeners, providing they can find a way to buy or steal this pleasingly overstuffed CD.’

If that wasn’t enough, hip hop veteran Jaz Z is coming to over here play on Tinie’s home turf. Jay Z is finally showing some true backbone to those lyrcis we heard so long ago - "lets get together and make this whole world believers"

Well...Up yours Young Jeezy… Hip hop's still universal and the British isles is a growing pioneer in the evolution.

Tinie TempahTinie’s audio scrapbook ‘Hood Economic’ uprocked right off the shelves at the back end of last year and this August his new single “Tears” will drop, with what we can only expect as another resounding crash of individuality and appealing melodies. He appears as one the most positive role models in the UK street scene, working hard to finish his A Levels while shooting the video for ‘Wifey’ – the top track on the Channel U chart for ten consecutive weeks. On top of this he has been an active part in the anti violence campaigns so critical to our society at the moment. To sum up his work ethic in his own words:

"See me I try and stay focused, cos ive noticed, im no longer a novice"

Tinie is giving his supportive audience some truly memorable shows this summer. As well as Jay Z he’ll be sharing the floor with The Cool Kids; the minimalist, old school sounding crew that are making a name for themselves in the worldwide hip hop community. They will be playing together with him not only in London, but also in Birmingham and Manchester. This means that supporters all over the UK will have an opportunity reasonably closer to them.

Tinie’s summer looks a bit like this…

  • 25th June – Royal Chase Hotel – London
  • 26th June – Super Sweet Sixteen – London
  • 28th June – Manchester Academy W/ The Cool Kids
  • 29th June – Birmingham Bar Academy W/ The Cool Kids
  • 2nd July – Scala W/ The Cool Kids
  • 3rd July – O2 Wireless W/Jay Z
  • 18th July – The Talk – Norwich
  • 30th July The Talk – Norwich
  • 12th August – Barracuda – Birmingham
  • 13th August – Club Demand – Coventry

We’ll see you there then…

Tears’ is released digitally on 4th August and available physically on 18th August.
