Anti-Pop Consortium Live At The ScalaAnti-Pop Consortium have come along way since meeting at a poetry slam in the late nineties; selling singles on cassette, working to challenge the evil empire hip hop was becoming under the guiding principle “Disturb the Equilibrium”, and Soundcrash is very proud to announce a rare performance from Hip Hop’s elusive Dark Knights this Autumn.

Ever since taking Hip Hop by surprise with their 2000 debut, “Tragic Epilogue”, making a name for themselves as one of the genre’s premiere boundary-pushers with “Shopping Carts Crashing” (2000) and cementing their status as luminaries with “Arrhythmia” (2002), they’ve always left the fans wanting more. Now, Six years after they released their last album and left to pursue solo projects, they’re back, enriched by their time apart. “We're grown men”, says Anti-Pop’s Beans. “So our acceptance of our differences has allowed to bring all the more magic to the table. We're stronger now and the music is better for it”.

Widely regarded as cutting-edge innovators to a broad spectrum of listeners including b-boy purists, experimental electronic fans and indie rockers, Anti-Pop Consortium’s return is major news. The group have been praised for their stream-of consciousness lyrics, their ability to give seemingly unrelated word clusters hidden meaning, and their sonic backdrops that provide the perfect canvas for their lyrics.

An Antipop show is an exciting and unusual thing for two reasons. Firstly, having been off the map for so long there is a whole generation of fans who’ve yet to experience them live. Secondly, the live show is a wonder to behold, a firework display of energy and lyrical inventiveness where certified APC bangers nestle up to future-funk, android-soul and pure space-cathedral magnificence.

It’s a show unlike any other, particularly with esteemed support from Juice Aleem - of inspirational UK Hip Hop stalwarts New Flesh and international underground Hip Hop artists ApSci (Quannam Projects).

Antipop Consortium’s return is anticipated to fill a creative void in not only Hip Hop, but music as a whole, while always maintaining the credo - Disturb The Equilibrium.
