Vauxhall Tribes 2007Vauxhall Tribes 2007 offers UK’s finest urban talent the chance to perform with Dizzee Rascal. This year’s Vauxhall Tribes event sees the final competitors battling it out at the Grand Final ‘showdown’ and those that lead in style and design will win the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform live on stage with Nationwide Mercury Music Prize nominee, Dizzee Rascal who will be judging at the London final.

In true Vauxhall Tribes style, the yearly competition will be open to beatboxers, MC’s and all-style hip hop dancers to show off their skills in full effect and wow the crowd with a show stopping display of entertaining performances that will drive excitement across the nation and unveil the next big urban acts.

Vauxhall Tribes 2007This year sees Vauxhall Tribes, an initiative of Vauxhall Motors, move up a gear - for the first time ever, the competition will be open to all aspiring Banksy’s, inviting artists to get involved and visually awe the crowd with their story-telling street art.

There will be four regional heats in Brighton, Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester in August to seek out the ‘ones to watch’ from the urban scene. Winners from each category and region qualify to ‘battle it out’ in the Grand Final held in a secret location in London this September.

Urban acts can enter into the competition by logging onto and submitting a simple online application that can be supported with footage or photography of their talent. Successful applicants will be invited to perform and winners from each region win a cash and clothing prize and will qualify for the London Grand Final in September.

Vauxhall Motors is calling for the best urban acts from across the country to keep their eyes peeled at which will be updated on an ongoing basis.

Vauxhall Tribes was established by Vauxhall Motors in 2005 to introduce the best in urban performance through interactive events. Past disciplines have included parkour, BMX, skateboarding and krumping.

Four regional heats (N,S,E,W) will take place throughout August this summer:

Manchester for the North, Nottingham represents the East with Brighton and Bristol making up the South and West respectively.

  • Brighton – 4th August @ Concorde 2
  • Bristol – 11th August @ Lakota
  • Nottingham - 18th August @ Marcus Garvey Centre
  • Manchester – 25th August @ Zion Arts Centre

The yearly Vauxhall Tribes events offers a platform for undiscovered artists from beatboxers to bboys or bgirls and now, street artists to perform in front of the crème of UK’s urban professionals.
