Yung Bruh aka Y.B.Let us introduce Yung Bruh aka "Y.B." from Watts, California (America). He is the little brother of the West Coast Rap legend "Kam". His first release was called "Fly Yung Bruh", and his follow up single is entitled "I See You", which features Mike Anthony and has an easy going laid back vibe all about the attraction of the opposite sex and is currently getting some air play.

Early on Yung Bruh’s musical career was side tracked by his first love which is American Football. Ironically it was through football where Yung Bruh met his friend and former rap partner, "The Game" playing for the Compton Oilers Midget Division. Five years later Yung Bruh and The Game crossed paths once more at a local city college and formed a group called "The Konference" which was later changed to "The Starters" in the years 2000 / 2001.

Yung Bruh was forced to put his rap dreams aside once more after receiving a full scholarship to the University of Oregon to play football. Although Yung Bruh was away from home and no longer under the wing of his big brother Kam or recording with Game, he never gave up on his passion.

Yung Bruh aka Y.B.The younger brother often participated in freestyle battles at 104.7 KDuck, Oregon's most popular radio station. He crushed every opponent in his path with vicious punch lines and a juggernaut like delivery. He also made a theme song for the University of Oregon called "UO" which remained 104.7's "pump it or dump it" champion for 3 months, beating the likes of 50 Cent and Nelly to name a few, also earning him wide spread recognition in Oregon on "Fox Sports News".

After an untimely and unfortunate event Yung Bruh had to forego his senior season and return home. After this return he decided to take on the rap game full time. Yung Bruh recently dropped his first mixtape called "West Nile Vol.1" late in December 2006 that was hosted by DJ Warrior and Kam. The mixtape features the cream of the West Coast including: Eazy-E, D.O.C., DJ Pooh, Yo-Yo, G-Malone, Damani, Spider Loc, Bishop Lamont, Tank, King Tech, Kokane, and many more.

Although Yung Bruh is just now releasing material he is deep in the game and with the support of his fam is set to blast off big time. We managed to catch up with him and managed to get a brief interview going. Check out what he had to say to britishhiphop.co.uk...

For all that don’t know please introduce yourself and let the readers know a bit about you…

Yung Bruh: Watts up!! My name is “Yung Bruh” a.k.a. “Y.B.”

First off, where did the name come from?

Yung Bruh: The name came from my older brother West Coast rap veteran “Kam”.

How did you get in to Hip Hop?

Yung Bruh: I was exposed to Hip Hop through my brother in the late 80’s early 90’s when he was signed to “Ice Cube” I was 6 years old at the time so naturally I wanted to do what my older sibling was doing.

Can you tell us a bit about where you are from?

Yung Bruh: I come from the Hells of North America!!! Black bottom, Gang capital of the world, the home of the despised and rejected and that is Compton / Watts, California.

Who your crew are and who they are associated with? How did you get together?

Yung Bruh: My crew consists of the West Coast veteran Kam, G-Malone, Bishop Lamont, Mykestro, Mike Anthony and Keno. They are associated with every body that is any body; we came together by either mutual acquaintances or just bumping into each other in the streets or the studio.

Are there any other producers or MCs in your crew to look out for?

Yung Bruh aka Y.B.Yung Bruh: Every one I just mentioned in the previous question.

When would it have been that you first stepped up and started participating in Hip Hop, rather than just listening or spectating?

Yung Bruh: It would be at the age of 6 years old when I featured on Kam’s debut album entitled “Neva Again” in 1993.

What do you tend to write about and what inspires you?

Yung Bruh: I write what I feel! Life inspires me, poverty inspires me, past due bills inspire me, and family inspires me.

Can you explain your style to us?

Yung Bruh: Kam on acid!! Versatile, refreshing.

OK, what is it that is different or unique about you?

Yung Bruh: My voice and delivery are unlike any one you have heard; I have a Juggernaut like delivery! Vicious punch lines, and unpredictable / unmatchable flow patterns.

Who or what are your main influences? I understand that you rate some older school artists such as Run-DMC and Rakim, is it these artists that you most look up to or do you have influences outside Hip Hop?

Yung Bruh: Run-DMC and Rakim played a key role in the early stages of my development; more so Rakim than Run-DMC as well as other out side influences.

Who was it you hooked up with label or finance wise that helped you take the step to getting your material out? How does this relationship work?

Yung Bruh: My hustle, my grind, my money, blood, sweat, and tears did everything that was put out on me.

Thank you very much for your time.

Yung Bruh is currently in the studio working with older brother Kam on his debut album, as well as the "West Nile Mixtape Vol.2", several independent films, and his most consistent role as Kam's 'right hand man' on stage. So there you have it. The artist has a great pedigree and with two scorching singles out is set to make an impact. With his internet hustle on Yung Bruh is showing the determination to break out.
