So far 2014 has been a superb year for Yorkshire's alternative hip hop dwellers - the Ceiling Demons. Since identical twin brother MCs Psy Ceiling and
Dan Demon, along with producer Beat Demon released their acclaimed debut album
'Dual Sides', they have supported the phenomenal Young Fathers (Anticon /
Big Dada) in the UK stretch of their world tour, been heralded by alternative hip hop legends Arrested Development, picked up and played on XFM by Scroobius Pip and have recently supported the mighty De La Soul on their 25 year anniversary tour of cult classic '3 Feet High & Rising' at York's YO1 Festival.
BBP have just dropped the debut single and associated video for 'Valhalla Rhyming', track put together by Habitat and DJ Severe. The track is taken from the forthcoming album 'Empire Building' which is due to drop on June 12th. This is a heavy-hitting, boom bap banger from the Heavy Links MC! The single features a remix from Remulak and bonus non-album cut 'Darkseid'.
Are there are any social settings / contexts where it is acceptable to use the word "PAKI"? Is it a credible argument to say the term of abuse should be reclaimed by British-Asians from the racists? These were points I was debating recently with some friends of mine about the "P" word, shortly before I came across this song from Kash "The B.A.D." Chaudhary.
A nice follow on from a very honest Heartbeat, Champion screams evolution of our underground Princess. Nyah demonstrates that she is independent, tenacious and is back with a track to be reckoned with! Not the first time Princess has taken her music from London to Ibiza, she proudly reintroduces herself to the music scene with her new single.
Would you believe it has been eight years since we covered DJ Supreme's Turntable Trixters DVD? Well it has, its been too long and finally DJ Supreme has come out of retirement. Apparently this song, an underground single featuring The Icepick has been bubbling around since last summer, but this is the first time it has come across my radar. The track has recieved a 'soft' release, but has been brewing nicely on Soundcloud and Youtube receiving a lot of plays and positive feedback, and so its time to spread the word!
