Bassline Circus Tours New ShowBassline Circus is touring a new show, ‘Advertigo’. This is circus as you’ve never seen it before, cleverly combining mind-blowing high wire antics, genetically modified street arts and clowns with the infectious sounds of new skool beats. This year’s show ‘Advertigo’ demolishes the culture of commercial advertising, disintegrates the dodgy world of the blipvert, spammer and door-to-door sales-mugger and provides a dizzying roller-coaster ride of multi media madness and mayhem with some of the best breakbeat, digital graffiti, vj-ing, scratching and circus acts you’re likely to see all year.

Look out for break-dancing dodgy geezers, pods fighting to control the world of the ad, characters from computer games, puffa rude boys and even a Viagra cannon. This is the story of mister everyman, the luckiest consumer in the west, who was in the right place at the right time…..but his winning sends him into a cycle of mass control and hard sell.

Bassline is run by a co-operative of creative individuals and they began life as organisers of some of the biggest free raves of the nineties. Famously, they took their parties to Africa, to war-torn Bosnia and Sarajevo and around Europe. Formed in 2003, Bassline has transformed travelling sound systems including Desert Storm, Total Resistance, Hekate and Sound Conspiracy into a legitimate organisation dedicated to their unique brand of entertainment.

‘Advertigo’, gets the endorsement of the Arts Council England and creates a Big Top show that will blow your perception of ‘circus’. Yes, there are some spectacular circus skills like swinging trapeze, counterweight abseiling, bungee, break and popping, Chinese pole, juggling and silks. But there’s much more, all against a backdrop of street arts and digital graffiti - and, of course -  a thumping soundtrack of bass-driven electronic music that fuses hip hop, drum and bass, live rapping and vocals.

Fun, funny and bursting with energy, Bassline is circus as you’ve never seen it before. You’ve got to experience it to believe it!

In addition to the public show, Bassline Circus will be mentoring a group of young people from Hackney aged 16-25 in a special project called ‘Magic Moments’. The project will give them new skills in dance, singing, MC-ing, acting, costume and lighting design, aerial circus skills and show production with plenty of performance opportunities, too. Those interested should contact Kath at Bassline on 07939 062 714.

For further information check out the Bassline website: www.basslinecircus.org – also visit www.myspace.com/basslinecircus. All tickets for the shows (which lasts 1½ hours with an interval) cost £8 or £5 concessions and can be bought online or on the day

Bassline Circus’ new show Advertigo is directed by Olivier Crova, creative consultant/ co-director is Pierrot Bidon. The Assistant director is Susannah Ford, Aerial/dance choreographer Vicky Amedume & Maria Hippolyte. The circus / dance choreographer is James Roberts, musical director Ryan Wilmot, visual designer David Bernard and the producer is Robin Collings.
