Zebra Traffic drop their first vinyl EP of the year, declaring their intentions for 2006…featuring brand new and exclusive music from Phi-Life Cypher, new Zebra signing Rup, alongside vinyl versions of tracks (previously only available on CD) from Dirty Diggers & Life. Plus a damn fine remix from Brighton based producer Evil Sun of Welsh rap legends The Headcase Ladz.

Dugout EP - Out Monday 15th May (Zebra Traffic)

Label: ZEBRA TRAFFIC
Cat No.: ZEBTRAFEP029
Distribution: PINNACLE
Release Date:15th May 2006

Tracklisting:

A2. Dirty Diggers – The Drink (4.55)
A3. Simpson & Rup – Focus (4.07)
B1. Life – Come On (2.47)
B2. Headcase Ladz – Ruffle Your Feathaz (Evil Sun Remix) (4.17)
B3. Dirty Diggers – Will You (3.07)
All in all quite a package for five of your hard earned queens heads. First up are Luton stalwarts Phi-Life Cypher, 10 years in the game and still going strong! ‘Red Alert’ sees DJ Nappa raid his Bollywood sample library and turning out a real banger, with Si-Phili, MCM (from legendary UK crew Caveman) and Life killing the vocals! Look out for new more brand new Phi-Life material plus a collaboration/compilation album coming soon on Zebra Traffic

Second up, are those up-and-coming young bucks the Dirty Diggers. Dropping the final two tracks from their accomplished album ‘Freakishly Strong’ – ‘The Drink’ and ‘Will You’. Look out for their cdr/mp3/white label ‘Let The Pounds Get Around’ (the UK version of the Dilla classic ‘Let The Dollar Circulate’) and a new album dropping later in the year.

Then comes Rup. This young lad has already seen a fair bit of action, having released his ‘King Cnut’ EP a couple of years back on Hear Today Records, appeared on a fair few mixtapes and recent 7” ‘Timequake’, he also appears on TM Juke (Tru Thoughts) album track ‘Wilderness Kids’, touring Europe with the live band. Here he joins forces with Zebra resident DJ Simpson, resulting in the soulful ‘Focus’. Watch out for his full-length album ‘Rup On Zebra’ later this year…

Up next to bat is Life. Here he pitches in with ‘Come On’ (produced by Mr Thing - also taking care of cuts), a crisp and succinct gem of a track, taken from his 2nd solo album ‘Realities Of Life’ which is out now and selling well. And finally, the EP is rounded off nicely by a Headcase Ladz Remix of ‘Ruffle Your Feathaz’ (orig taken from their LP ‘Get A Life’), courtesy of Brighton based beatsmith Evil Sun. His previous output has included production for Rup, Dr.Syntax, TM Juke and Alice Russell among others. Definitely one to watch…

  • The EP is out on Monday and available online from www.etchshop.co.uk and all good record shops...
