Fresh Fest 06

Straight Music will present a night of classic hip hop when Fresh Fest rolls into London on April 29th.

Fresh Fest was initially created in 1984 and was one of the biggest and most successful hip hop tours in the US. The original tour featured Run DMC, Whodini, Nice & Smooth, LL Cool J, Kurtis Blow, Newcleus and the Fat Boys.

The UK date will pay homage to the pioneers of the phenomenon that is Hip Hop, the line up will include the legendary Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, Rob Base & EZ Rock and Chubb Rock.  This event at Brixton Academy will fulfill the hip hop fan’s dream with these rare performances and also treat them to an evening of some of the UK’s most talented graffiti artists, breakdancers and DJs playing the hottest Hip Hop joints throughout the night by Choice FM’s 279 and Kiss FM DJ Shortee Blitz.

Fresh Fest will be a celebration of hip hop culture and is guaranteed to satisfy fans old and new, introducing a younger audience to hip hop’s rich history as well as being a nostalgic trip for the audience who grew up on some of the aforementioned artists. This show will act as a precursor to future events and we can look forward to this being an annual fixture.

Hip Hop is a multi million pound industry which of late has arguably lost it’s way, this event acts as a precious insight to where it came from and how it’s past is integral to it’s future.
