Holdin' Court is back in 2010 To Celebrate Their 1st Birthday

On Saturday 30th January Holdin' Court will return to The White Hart, Basingstoke. Mikey Terra, DJ Dixie, Louie G and DJ Juice and Mavrik will all be performing along with guest DJ Brother Beatbox and HC's resident DJ’s. A new addition to our night will be the introduction of an Open-Mic competition and an open-bboy circle. The night is to be hosted by Deeflux of FAN records.

Mikey T

Widely known for his releases on Ejectorseat Records alongside Fauna and projects on the label formed by him, Juice and Caramac named Pepa records. His Genuine Article EP gave us tracks containing a very personal perspective of his life so far and the quality of his skills as a conscious rapper were backed up with a successful reign on Ras Kwame’s 1xtra Homegrown show that saw him earn his rightful place in the ‘Homegrown Hall of Fame’ for his track Scattered Thoughts (produced by Awekid and featuring cuts by DJ Muzzell.) This will be Mikey Terra’s second appearance at Holdin’ Court, missed him first time round? Come check him this time!

DJ Dixie

A member of the crew 'Steel Devils' consisting of DJ's Jazz T, DJ Random, DJ Chud. He was in the DMC UK finals 2001 & 2002 , UK Vestax finals 2001 & 2002. He also represented with the Steel Devils crew in Amsterdam in 2000 at the European ITF finals and is ‘Always making bangers’.

Louie G

A Reading town resident, Louie G may be most recognized for his verses on the Verb-T and Juice collaboration ‘I’m Not That Guy’ but he also creates plenty of his own material including rather a unique sounding beat production. His distinctive rap style makes him easily recognizable and for us he’s stands out a mile above many others.

DJ Juice

Juice is a beat producer who has, in the past, worked with well established UK acts including Mikey T, Verb-T and Kyza Smirnoff. His jazzy samples which also regularly feature ‘trademark’ drums and horns and professional construction have earned him a notable reputation… if you haven’t already, you need to go check the release 'I’m Not That Guy' LP by Verb T and Juice. School up!!

Mavrik

Basingstoke’s own Mavrik is one third of Realms of Rhyme (alongside C.Monts and Dash). This will be his second appearance at Holdin’ Court showcasing his solo material. In the past, he collaborated with a lot of local artists to compile his own mixtape 'The Odyssey', he’s featured on 'The Sickness Mixtape' with C. Monts and also on Twisted Link's 'Chronic Contemplation' EP as well as the 'Rugged Tapes' series put together by Shanakee of DSM and went on to feature on Shanakee's debut LP 'As A Man Thinks'.

Open Mic

Our open mic competition consists of around 10 emcees each being given a minute to rap over a beat supplied by one of Holdin' Courts' Resident DJ’s or a beatbox beat supplied by resident Beatboxer Vocal Madness. The crowd determines who the finalists are and following this, then the winner. Want to take part? Email HC direct: [email protected]
