Jamelia, Nathan & DJ Steve Sutherland to headline at Hugo Urban Rules in Manchester Wednesday 23rd / Thursday 24th May 2007. HUGO URBAN RULES is back for the third and final phase of the successful urban music programme. Designed by the internationally renowned fragrance brand HUGO, the programme offers a platform for new artists to demonstrate their talent to the nation and an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with world famous musicians.
The London and Birmingham phases saw urban stars such as Joe, Amy Winehouse, Sway and DJ Steve Sutherland bring their knowledge and support to the role of judges.
The Manchester phase looks certain to end this competition with a bang; with three of the UK’s biggest talents. Britishhiphop.co.uk will be following the Manchester heat closely and will bring you all the information you need to get involved.
This May Jamelia, one of the most successful UK singer-songwriters, Nathan the UK’s hottest new RnB singer, and four times MOBO Award winner DJ Steve Sutherland, will host master class sessions and perform at an exclusive concert in Manchester. Budding musicians are invited to send in their demos for the chance to share the stage and the limelight!
So far, over 1000 people have applied to take part in the successful London and Birmingham sessions and 500 are expected to apply for Manchester. Twenty will be short-listed to participate in masterclasses and auditions taking place in a secret location on the 23rd and 24th May. The masterclasses will cover areas like:
- Vocal coaching
- Stage craft
- Understanding the Music Industry
One artist or band will be selected by a panel of judges to have their music professionally recorded, distributed and to appear on MTV. The judging panel reads like a who’s who and includes Mervyn Lyn, Vice President A&R Sony RCA, Steve Sutherland and Jamelia herself.
To participate Hugo Fragrances invite urban artists to upload their music to the website –www.hugofragrances.com/urbanrules – alternatively they can post in a demo to get their application under way! It’s not just performers who benefit from HUGO URBAN RULES, music fans can apply for complimentary tickets to the Manchester concert featuring all the artists and the Manchester winner by registering at www.hugofragrances.com/urbanrules by 16th May.
