Snow boarders need look no further for the unofficial start to the winter sports season as the Metro Ski and Snowboard Show exclusively presents The Boardroom. Back by popular demand, The Boardroom is the only place to get your hands on customized snowboards, learn to pop and lock with the UK’s best B-boys and hang out in the coolest apres-ski spot this side of The Alps.
New this year is the Board Art Gallery where leading artists will be on hand to educate and to illustrate the growing trend for Board Art. Graphic designers and artists, including Evan Hecox (Salomon), Jono Wood (Burton and Gravis), Nigel Peake (Automaton) and Ferris Plock (Vans and Monsoon), will be displaying their latest board art designs. You can even have a go yourself in the ‘Salomon Free Hand Design Your Board’ competition where winners will have their design air brushed onto their own snowboard by artist Ashley Brayson.
Back by popular demand is the B-Boy stage where top break-dancers will show off their moves and even coach you in the ways of popping and locking in daily B-boy workshops from Wednesday to Friday. Not to be missed this year is Street Balling brought to you by The Extreme Channel; a hybrid of basketball and break dancing, as well as ‘The Winter B-boy Jam 2006’, where top crews return to battle it out and stake their claim on the coveted title.
The Alpine Retro Retox Bar is the place to kick back and catch the latest film premiers from Chunky Knit productions, or play the latest and greatest games from Xbox 360. Providing the all-important tunes will be the legendary X FM DJs including Sean Keaveny, Marsha and Dan Greenpeace, alongside up and coming bands Swimming, Dega Breaks, and The Late Greats.
All in, The Boardroom is the place to check out the latest beats and treats from the free skiing and boarding fraternity. A celebration of life on the half pipe, The Boardroom is a must when visiting this year’s show. For more information and to book your ticket now, visit www.metroskishow.com.
