Do you like documentaries? Do you like real people? If so you’ll like this original new film… ‘The Prince of Hip Hop’ is based on the true story of the unlikely odyssey of Stanley Harris - a reformed pickpocket from the Bronx, turned Jehovah's Witness Minister… who claims he's the creator of Hip Hop…!

The Prince Of Hip Hop DocumentaryThis crazy portrait documentary (from Michele D’Acosta the producer of ‘Biggie and Tupac’ and other Nick Broomfield documentaries) is, by turns, hilarious, poignant, contentious and raw, and charts the journey of a man returning to the streets after spending his youth in incarceration who truly believes he’s had his thunder stolen and that he, Stanley Harris, created Hip Hop!

Stanley’s odyssey is told against the backdrop of the universal theme of dreams deferred for ordinary kids from poor neighbourhoods, whose hopes are interrupted by the reality of violence, drugs and poverty in New York’s Bronx.

The story of ‘The Prince of Hip Hop’ unfolds against this setting; highlighting the human need to overcome seemingly impossible odds which, in Stanley’s case, is to re-claim the fame he believes has been stolen from him by the rap industry.

Stylistically, the film unashamedly breaks new boundaries blending hip-hop, animation, drama and documentary.

Catch a sneak preview of the film ‘The Prince of Hip Hop’ at the Gardner Arts Centre in Falmer, Brighton England on 25th May 2006 AT 7PM. The event also includes a VJ set interacting with a live film mix and hip hop beats.
