Hijack – Daddy Rich [Video]
Hijack came out of Brixton, London in 1988 when they signed to Music Of Life, and they dropped their debut single, the now legendary, 'Style Wars'. Ice-T heard the group and promptly signed them to his label. Hijack were one of the biggest groups the UK has ever produced and this single Daddy Rich dropped in 1991 as the group were set to drop their stunning Horns Of Jericho LP.
Gunshot – Crime Story [Video]
Gunshot followed up their amazing debut with Crime Story an equally gritty track with just as much power and punch. This would be their last release with the original line up of members, but already the group had developed their own variation on the Britcore sound and left a lot of people shook.
Blade – Whatcha Waitin For [Video]
Blade is one of our heroes here, and so we are delighted to be able to show you this video of his from 1991. Blade was always hard hitting and this song Whatcha Waitin For is an exemplar of the harsh Britcore sound that was prevalent on the underground at that time.
Gunshot – Battle Creek Brawl [Video]
Back in 1990 times were a great deal harder than they are now and the sound Hip Hop artists were producing became increasingly rebellious and gritty. East Londons Gunshot comprised of MC's Alkaline, Mercury and Q-Roc (who left to join Son of Noise) and DJ's Barry Blue and White Child Rix were at the forefront of this sound and were one of the hardest groups around. They created an almighty buzz when they first came out.
London Posse – My Beat Box Reggae Style [Video]
Here we bring you a chance to view two pioneers of Hip Hop in this country performing a live and spontaneous version of their classic debut single My Beatbox Reggae Style in the back of Westwood's battered old Sierra estate. The two in question are the legendary Bionic and beatboxer Sipho who together were part of the London Posse.
