Carpetface - Don't Get It Twisted MP3 [NewBias]Carpetface is back with a new release after quite a long hiatus. He's now a single dad and has spent a fair bit of time in France amongst other places. He's now back in the UK and living semi off-grid. Commuting to record music has been hard, but he has found renewed enthusiasm and is to embark on the press for his release.

George Fields - Beyond Realm LP [Under the Sun]To say George delivered the goods with this album is an understatement. Continuing where 'From the Sticks' left off, he takes us on a cosmic journey, from the dreamy countryside of Dorset and into the stratosphere and the unexplored universe. The soundscapes he creates have both an originality and a familiarity to them -perhaps the key to his magical powers, alongside his fastidious attention to detail and quality control - which turns the album from a collection of individual pieces into a unified theory of George's essentially 90s Hip Hop sound.

The Summit - Nocturnes LP [Soundweight]The Summit aka DJ Drinks is a UK producer known to a few for the quality of his productions, and epitomizing the 90s jazzy boombap sound that is currently enjoying a mini renaissance both in UK Hip Hop and globally. This album is somewhat of a hidden gem, stylishly presented and opening with a superb moogy-analogue thing, it then breaks into a series of lush beats with heavy drums, low filtered bass lines, vibes and / or echoed voice samples etc.

Chairman Maf - 1976 LP [Village Live]Fortunately for the world, the Village Live label has released the Chairman Maf album '1976' on wax, originally only available digitally (released in 2013). Maf has already gained quite a bit of attention from his other instrumental albums which each bring to life the musical universe inside his mind, drawn from an extremely diverse range of sounds and samples. Both 'Paint' and 'Soup' are great listens and '1976' also has many layered bangers.

DJ Moe Love - Digging in the Tapes, I Ain't Dead Yet LP [King of the Beats]Moe Love from Ultramag is back with this selection of beats recorded between 1993-2015 made on the SP 12/1200. Moe's beats contain many of the elements you would expect keeping it simple throughout, with some easily recognizable samples (Skull Snaps etc.) and whole lot of other seriously ill dusty stuff he's chopped and looped for your listening pleasure.

Ill Move Sporadic And Tenchoo - Panic Room 9 [Starch Records]Diehard fans of independent hip-hop had much to be hyped about when Starch Records first announced the collaboration of label founders Ill Move Sporadic, and rising underground heavyweight soloist Tenchoo, back in 2015. Sofa King And Big Toast - Live Beige MP3 [Revorg Records]Rising underground British powerhouse Revorg Records kicked the start of the week directly in its face Monday, with a surprise banger from TPS Fam clansmen Big Toast, and producer Sofa King. Live Beige, taken from the upcoming EP "Save Yourself, Kill Them All" is, yet another, counter-cultural anthem from the Revorg camp – a delightful 'off you fuck' to the monotony of day to day life, and those who operate within it – set to Sofa King's thumping, rock-laden boom bap soundtrack.

Genesis Elijah – Homicide MP3 [Escape Route Music]Genesis Elijah is back! Not that he ever went away. Few MCs are as hard-working or prolific as Gen. Yet, despite the substantial body of work, the quality of music never diminishes, nor does the innovation and determination to push the game forward.

Stig of the Dump – Kubrick LP [Lewis Recordings]Braggadocios bars, intricate wordplay and exquisite storytelling, brought together by strong production courtesy of Jehst, result in an album of the year contender. Is Kubrick a concept album? Would it even be possible to create a concept album around the work of Stanley Kubrick, a man with a multi-layered, almost cryptic body of work?
