Building on the increasingly fresh output from the Welsh hip-hop scene, the wayward team of Junior Disprol, Chud Jackson and DJ Stagga desecrate your dusty speakers with one of the most experimental, leftfield and incredible long players you will hear in 08. Tinged with the unrelenting 808s of the new school, modern electronics, and the ethics of hip-hop, this is a project not only inspired by our times, but with a defiant nod to the history of rap.
The tormented boogie of the lead single Scumbongo hints at the headnodding madness in store, even if you are unsure at whether or not to be offended by the crews japery. The twisted late 80s breakbeat vibes of Dibby Dibby Deejay hint at the energy of their live shows, and the ingenious usage of the Pacman sample in Smash Robot vs Pacman Ghost is ridiculously addictive.
The Dead Residents escapades have not been ignored by media types either. An impressive and frankly infamous BBC Radio 1 Live Session paved the way for further rotation by BBC Radio 1s Huw Stephens and Bethan Elfyn as well as BBC Radio 6s Nemone.
Released: 17th November 2008
