South / West country producer / DJ First Aid is set to release his debut LP entitled Devon Cream. On this LP he has enlisted the help of some of the most mouth-watering names in the UK Hip Hop Game. Spots on the LP will be going to Asaviour, Blade, Extremists, Foreign Beggars, Humurak D Gritty, Hoodz Underground, Inja, Jehst, Phi Life Cypher, SkiinyMan and Task Force. What, that is a line up we haven’t seen since Skitz’ Countryman LP.

This release is to be the first single from the LP and features a legendary line up on Devon Cream. Million Dan, formerly of the Demon Boyz, MCD formerly of Silent Eclipse and Rodney P formerly of the London Posse are all legends and here we see them combined on one track for what is purportedly the first time. Funky horns and a flute make for a classic backing for the raga tinged influences of the MCs. The three MCs work well together with their uncompromising styles. Million Dan gets a bit too complex with the syllables, but MCD flows strong and smooth as ever. Rodney appears as his consummate self and I would say that First Aid has accomplished quite a feat here with his mix down making everything sound loud.

The flip contains Escapology which brings in Mantis who has taken a step away from his Aspects group to go solo. A bit slower than the other track, relaxed scratches and a quite different piano riff alow Mantis to flip some different flows which nod towards Eminem. The whole verses he drops are quite humerous and are definitely played for laughs. The main topics are focussing on reality, but also exploring ways of getting out.

First Aid certainly has the skills to put together a classic beat or two and knows a good sounding MC to coax into the booth too. This is tasty, and I’m looking forward to the Devon Cream LP.
