Feisty trio Lil’ Rascals one of the youngest hip-hop crews to hit the scene release their double UK debut New Era / Future Wifey on 16th July through GFUK Records. Merker, Shizznit and Temper (aged 12 and 13) are the Lil Rascals and have been performing separately on stage from a young age.

Lil’Rascals new single ‘New Era’ (called so because of the boys’ love of New Era baseball caps) is a song that most youths today can relate to. It encapsulates a phenomenon in today’s youth culture. Their lyrics are true of today’s youth love of brand named tracksuits, and give a real insight in to the multicultural youth of Britain. Because of their age the rapping is a bit annoyingly high pitched. The production is full of drums and is definatelt part of the sound that is now.

Whilst Future Wifey is a track about puppy love and shows the boys softer side. Mixed in the track is some R'n'B singing over a slower, more melodic backing track which does show that these youths have some versatility, but are perhaps trying to step beyond the level that their age permits them to achieve at the moment.

They will be performing alongside big names such as Tinchy Stryder and JME and Skepta and Recess@ Club E3 on Wednesday 30th May a feat that not many children their age can claim. Showcasing talent that is not often seen in children their age, Lil Rascals combine cheeky youthfulness with intelligence and talent.

‘New Era' / ’Future Wifey’ out July 16th through GFUK Records.
