Shawn Jackson - Maan Up! 12" [Tres Records]

Thes One’s Tres Records has its finger firmly on the pulse of quality no nonsense Hip Hop. Previous heat includes various People Under The Stairs projects, Lightheaded, Giant Panda and Damu the Fudgemunk amongst others. After involvement in various collaboration projects, LA native and Tres signee Shawn Jackson (of C.R.A.C) dropped a solid solo debut at the arse end of last year - and in keeping with the defecation theme - his new 12’ is simply... the shit.

Detroit producer and Bling47 affiliate Ta’Raach drops an ill beat on anti-estragon anthem Maan Up!; chopping a dreamy melody over hard, chugging drums. Shawn is joined by Big Tone and Ta for what is to all intents and purposes a dope vocal workout and a wonderfully effective ode to the art of not being a little bitch. If that wasn’t enough, ‘Fix Ya Face’ is pretty ace too.

Here We Go Again’ features some very good rapping from Shawn and Coss over a slightly oddball beat courtesy of Exile. Let’s just hope recorder samples don’t catch on. All said - a fresh 12’ that deserves your immediate attention. White vinyl too!
