George Fields - Beyond Realm LP [Under the Sun]To say George delivered the goods with this album is an understatement. Continuing where 'From the Sticks' left off, he takes us on a cosmic journey, from the dreamy countryside of Dorset and into the stratosphere and the unexplored universe. The soundscapes he creates have both an originality and a familiarity to them -perhaps the key to his magical powers, alongside his fastidious attention to detail and quality control - which turns the album from a collection of individual pieces into a unified theory of George's essentially 90s Hip Hop sound.

Whether he hates being called that or not, the Vanilla Boy Wonder has definitely secured his position as one of the masterminds of the current jazz / boombap renaissance happening both in the UK and worldwide. Also securing a feature from UK Saxophonist Finn Peters and presenting the double vinyl version of the album with a beautiful gatefold sleeve and inlay, the years of work George has put into this project are more than apparent. He deserves every accolade and certainly greater appreciation from the Hip Hop world for his achievement with Beyond Realm which will be enjoyed by many people for years to come and is probably the best instrumental Hip Hop album of 2016.
