Short but sweet appeared to be the mantra for critically acclaimed duo Kidz In The Hall, at Brixton’s Plan B. Showcasing tracks off their debut album School Was My Hustle, the talented duo rocked the crowd as if this was 1987.
Naledge the talented lyricist, rhymed skilfully over classic Hip Hop instrumentals and recent hits such as Dizzee Rascal’s Fix Up Look sharp, sending an already intoxicated crowd into a state of frenzy.
Demonstrating their refusal to be pigeon holed as Hip Hop back packers, the surprisingly superb remix of Omarion’s Ice Box went down a treat. Kidz In The Hall proved able to read their British audience perfectly. Left in the excellent hands of DJ Double O, who threw down classics track, after classic track- each one sending us back down memory lane. The only disappointment was the absence of Wheelz Fall Off- their current hit; which has already been dubbed a modern Hip Hop classic.
Following in the footsteps of great Hip Hop duos before them, such as Gangstar (Guru / DJ Premier), Greg Nice / Smooth B and Pete Rock / C.L. Smooth, Kidz In The Hall are destined to go onto great things.
