BBC Radio 1 Revamps Evening Schedule

BBC Radio 1 has just announced a series of changes to the station’s evening schedule. The moves see brand new talent to Radio 1, Kissy Sell Out and Kutski promoted to their own regular shows and 1Xtra’s MistaJam joining the station, in addition to his 1Xtra show. The new schedule will come into effect in October.

1Xtra will be recording an exclusive Maida Vale Session with the Wu Tang Clan on Tuesday 15th July, featuring  all nine members, RZA, GZA, Method Man, Ghostface, Raekwon, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck and Street. Semtex will host the session and interview with the full performance on the 1Xtra Hip Hop show on Friday 18th July.

Kano Announced Winner Of Best UK Act For The BET Hip Hop Awards 2007

British music fans have voted Kano as the “Best UK Act” ahead of the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta, GA on October 13th. Kano went head to head with five of the UK’s finest rappers; Dizzee Rascal, JME, Klashnekoff, Lethal B and Wiley to win the gong. For two weeks, Hip Hop fans battled it out by voting interactively on MTV Base and 1 Xtra BBC websites for their favourite act; and on Monday 1st October, live on 1 Xtra BBC Kano was announced as the winner.
