Bursting onto the scene with the sort of natural presence, soul and charisma sadly lacking in your run of the mill UK rapper type, Chima Anya has recently unleashed his debut album ‘New Day’. It’s about time we found out where he’s been hiding all these years!

Hailing from South East London, rapper Fliptrix has been creating a storm since 07's Force Fed Imagery. Bringing intelligent, streetwise lyrics, high-energy delivery and a myriad of original and distinctive flows. A succession of scene stealing features later, and Fliptrix is ready to drop an album that will set the bar for rap albums extremely high in 2010.

The Australian Hip Hop scene is more closely related to ours than it is to the US scene. The main reason for this is the automatic hard work that has to be put in to be respected above our American brothers and the attention to detail in the lyrics - Brad Strut, an Australian now living in London, is at home here.

Currently one of the hardest working DJs and promoters the Spin Doctor has produced a fantastic mix to celebrate 4 years of his night the Doctors Orders. Below is the link to a zip file with an MP3 of the mix, some artwork and the traklisting. Remember to look out for the Doctors Orders nights throughout the month.

YNR's good year continues and they've chosen to kick of Q3 with the release of Micall Parknsun's M-Phazes produced All 4 Hip Hop. For all the good old fashioned rap fans out there, this one's for you. Lively and triumphant soul with horn harmonies backs Parky's bold lyricism as he pledges his allegiance to and declares his love for Hip Hop.

Here's my (un-edited) review of YNR's Feeding Time At The Zoo, originally written for and published in HHC Digital 002, it was their album of the month:

When Tricksta and Lunatrix are Flying the Flag you’re guaranteed that your tastes will be catered for. Whether you like Hip Hop flavoured Grime, Boom Bap flavoured Hip Hop or Rap flavoured Ragga it’s all here - providing its origins are in the UK. This does mean that probably not every track will be to your liking - some of the Grime tracks I still can’t get with, mainly based on the daft lyrics (Spitta raps about Slimline PS’s and DS Lites).

Boundaries are meant to be broken and limits are there to be pushed. Ghost isn't afraid to challenge all preconceptions of what being a producer means and refuses to be pigeonholed by a single category. Known for his hip-hop production and remix work for the likes of Nicole Willis he now ventures into unchartered territory.

If there’s one person making beats over here that you need to know about it’s Beat Butcha. This man is on fire, cranking out a seemingly endless series of ill beats with styles varying between jazzy R&B joints with D.ablo to electronic grimyness with artists like Ghetto (check ‘So Damn Dedicated’).
