June Bug is the third solo LP from East London emcee / producer and one fourth of The Colony - Cons... also known as Conspicuous. Cons has returned with a 12 track LP to follow up 2007's highly acclaimed The Family Photo Album. This time opting to hand over all production credits to some UK heavyweight beatmakers such as A H Fly, Apollo, Evil Ed, Apatight, S.Chu, M-Dot, Shears and S-Type, Cons has continued the soulful theme that has been the foundation of his previous work.

I recently went to Alaska Street Studios near Waterloo Station with the purpose of checking out a band that was led by… wait for it… Seanie T. For some, an unexpected artist to be leading a band but after knowing the diversity of his music, this was not so much of a surprise. Believe me, anyone who knows British hip-hop, knows Seanie T.

Karl Hinds definitely deserves respect. Starting way back in 1993 he founded and put out drum and bass on the Assassin label. He then went on in 2000 to set up hip hop label Ill Flava Records. Self-producing and rapper on all his albums, Karl Hinds is definitely an entrepreneurial force to be reckoned with. I met up with him at his studio in Ilford for a serious discussion about his story so far in UK hip-hop and beyond.

Seanie T has put together the heaviest of heavyweight UK Hip Hoppers for a group of releases starting with 'Ere Comes Da Black'. All releases are on Seanie T's Dark Horizons imprint, with an album to follow later this year. 'Ere Comes Da Black' is out 10th October 2005.
