Triple Darkness launched their first single from their forthcoming debut album ‘Anathema’ at Herbal on the 4th of January 2008. Joining them on the night were a number of established and up and coming artists including Blak Twang, The IRS, Mr Drastick, DJ Vadim, Mr Thing, Pyrelli and Yungun.
Most up and coming crews around nowadays are more likely to cite T.I than Tragedy Kahdafi or Kanye West before Killah Priest as an influence, but then this isn’t most crews… Triple Darkness are the sum of two mighty parts, the first being The Heresy (Cyrus Malachi & Nasheron) and joining them to completing the trio M9ine, the underground wordsmith responsible for the one of the most gritty debut mixtapes, ‘High Fidelity’.
M9 has been sat in my backlog of reviews, but I'm sorry that this has been the case as this boys skills are ridiculous. He has an intense rhyming style that takes no prisoners. Melanin 9 breathes new life into a genre that has seemingly been entering its last days.
Manage is a heavyweight MC. We remember him from his Early Life Crisis and work with Def-Con and he has always been on the more conscious side of Hip Hop spitting meaningful lyrics with consummate ease. For the last year or so he has been one of the organisers of, and the main host for the Speakers Corner nights which go off in Brixton and have been proving themselves to get the best talent down there for some action packed nights.
Having made his name as a member of Terra Firma, alongside Klashnekoff and Skribblah, laced tracks alongside the likes of Jehst, Tommy Evans, Yungun and Harry Love, popped up on numerous mixtapes and rocked shows the length and the breadth of the country, Kyza finally delivers his long awaited debut LP.
