What’s the point of keeping it real when alternate realities are so much more fun? For new hip-hop super-group, The Mighty Underdogs, our world is one of hyper-reality where vacationing monsters have gunfights. Nothing’s harder than that, man.
Alternative hip hop trio The Mighty Underdogs play their first UK date in support of their forthcoming debut album release ‘Droppin Science Fiction’. The Mighty Underdogs are Blackalicious’s Gift of Gab, fellow Quannum compatriot Lateef the Truth Speaker and Bay Area producer Headnodic. They are signed to the critically acclaimed Def Jux label home to Aesop Rock, Mr Lif, El-P and more!
Akrobatik’s varsity rhyme career hatched in 1998, when his first single, “Ruff Enuff”, dropped on Boston’s own Detonator Records. In addition to introducing fans to Ak’s accessible intellectuality, the album paired him with co-defendant Mr. Lif for the first time on “The Fat Sh**” B-side and fueled anticipation for an ensuing 12” flurry.
The new album from Boston hip-hop mainstay Akrobatik and follow-up to 2003's Balance, Absolute Value takes the listener on a journey through his diverse range, and he does not go at it alone. An impressive list of guest artists and producers that accompany Ak on Absolute Value include hip-hop legends, some of today’s most powerful contemporary names, and members of the underground elite.
2007 saw Aesop Rock (aka Ian Bavitz) deliver his full-length album ‘None Shall Pass’ on Definitive Jux to great critical acclaim. Now, the man Q Magazine noted as being “Lauded in alternative rap circles”, is back touring on UK soil for the first time in 3 years taking in dates in Brighton (29th January), London (30th January), Nottingham (31st January), Dublin (2nd February) and Edinburgh (4th February) respectively.
Former Company Flow frontman / Definitive Jux label honcho El-P travels to Spain, Holland, France, Belgium, Ireland, and the UK in support of his second solo album, the critically acclaimed I'll Sleep When You're Dead. "There’s been three or four pretty good rap albums so far this year, but El-P’s I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead is the only one I’m still listening to on a regular basis months after the fact, as if it was… you know, a rock album" - XXL.com columnist Byron Crawford.
Definitive Jux co-founder, emcee, and producer El-P's first single from his new album I'll Sleep When You're Dead is available now. Entitled "Flyentology", the song features Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. The single will be supported by an Adult Swim produced video that will debut on Comedy Central.
Def Jux has announced that the long awaited follow up album from head honcho El-P, 'I'll Sleep When You're Dead', has been slated for release on March 5, 2007. The highly-anticipated platter features collaborations with Trent Reznor (NIN), the Mars Volta, Aesop Rock, Mr. Dibbs and an appearance by Catpower's Chan Marshall.
