With urban youth culture proving to be an increasingly popular theme of exploration throughout the narrative of today’s British film and entertainment media, it’s inevitable that a tongue-in-cheek, more comedic approach would eventually seem a worthwhile endeavour for potential film distributors. Television’s already seen recent farcical attempts with such shows as, the moderately successful, Phone Shop on Channel 4, and BBC’s utterly deplorable Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show.

Two years ago the critically acclaimed “Kidulthood” came as the first real representation of the 21st century British youth lifestyle.

Noel Clarke (Kidulthood, Doctor Who, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, West 10 LDN) returns as Sam Peel, picking up his story six years after Kidulthood, 2006’s critically acclaimed portrayal of life for 21st century teens. Alongside Noel Clarke, Adulthood re-unites several of Kidulthood’s cast including Adam Deacon (West 10 LDN, Sugarhouse, Ali G Inda House), Femi Oyeniran and Cornell S. John (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian).

Kidulthood is a mixed bag. Probably the best of its sort so far. Rage having been pissed on from a great height and better than Bullet Boy. This film by Menhaj Huda follows a day in the life of a group of London school kids as they cope with the effects of bullying.
