Very sad news is that pioneer Derek B aka EZQ aka Derek Boland (born 15 January 1965) has passed away from a heart attack at Charing Cross hospital. He was just 44 and everyone who followed Hip Hop's origins in this country will remember his name and contribution fondly. He was one of the first to make a name for himself in UK Hip Hop from appearances on Top Of The Pops, singles that reached the heights of the charts and his 1988 Bullet From A Gun LP.

West coast emcee Jern Eye is proud to announce the release of his sophomore solo LP, Vision. The album, which features production from Jake One, !llmind and Keelay & Zaire, and collaborations with Guilty Simpson, Mistah F.A.B., Zion I, Cali Agents and NightClubber Lang, will be available October 13th via MYX Music Label.

Hervé is one talented music producer with enough aliases to form a one-man label. The 29 year old wunderkind has released and remixed under the names Action Man, Young Lovers, The Count Of Monte Cristal, Dead Soul Brothers and Voodoo Chilli as well as being one half of The Count and Sinden and part of the dance super group Machines Don't Care.

9th Wonder continues his slightly worn habit of remixing Nas; this time round giving some of the hits he’s missed such as ‘Made You Look’, ‘Get Down’ and ‘I Can’ the trademark soul stamp. I’ve been impressed by 9th in the past - the first Little Brother LP was sick as were highlights of the Minstrel Show, The Formula and not forgetting the amazing Murs: 9th Edition EP, but this EP could put a small horse to sleep.

G*Fam have a definite commercial feel to them. And they bring it without jacking some TPain beats like way too many folks in the scene. However, this track doesn't really bring much to the table for me. It's alright. Just. Catchy, club worthy, sellable.
