Vinnie Paz – Carry On Tradition EP [Pazmanian Devil Music]

For more than a decade and a half, Vinnie Paz has been a mainstay at the top of the independent hip-hop scene. He is the frontman of both Jedi Mind Tricks and Army of the Pharaohs and one half of the Heavy Metal Kings duo with Ill Bill. In 2010, he stepped out as a solo artist with his album, 'Season of the Assassin', and followed that up with the 2012 release of 'God of the Serengeti'. On 28 October 2013, Vinnie releases his new 8-song EP 'Carry On Tradition'.

There was something special about hearing Non-Phixon’s brand of paranoid splutter over vintage Premier on Rock Stars. For Primo it sounded like a welcome break from the usual suspects and as good as Necro’s beats can be, if you’re a dope rapper from NY it’s a rite of passage to flow on a Work of Mart. Subsequently, it was only right that Ill Bill, the most talented and engaging of the crew rekindle that magic on this teaser from his forthcoming LP ‘The Hour of Reprisal’.

Like him or hate him, you have to admit that Necro is one of a kind. Being far from your average gun-slinging, brandy sippin’ New York rapper, it’s easy to see the appeal of such an original guy. When I sat down and thought about doing this interview, I have to say I had my doubts. The risk of being traumatised by what lay inside this twisted individuals brain was a fairly daunting thought.
