Rap legends M.O.P. are coming on a European tour with quite a few UK nights. Continuing with a resurgence of some turn of 90's hip-hop greats, Mash-Out Posse will be bringing their own lyrical styling to Liverpool, Bristol, Sheffield, Nottingham, Norwich, Oxford, Brighton, Glasgow and London. Nottingham looks particlarly nice with Method Man and Redman in attendance. London also has Leaf Dog and BVA supporting.
New Yorker Fresh Island; the groundbreaking Croatian hip hop festival, saw a record 20,000 fans flock to the tiny and unspoiled Zrce beach as a heavyweight line up of international artists took to the custom-built seafront stage. The three day event kicked off in style on Wednesday 23rd July with a headline performance from legend Rick Ross - as well as a night of global DJ crews including DJ Tim Westwood (UK), DJ Katch (DE), Lil Dirty (AUT), DJ Smoke Dogg (AUT), DJ Maxx (DE), DJ Jayceeoh (USA), Chris Stallion (NOR), Latin Prince (USA) and Patski Love (NOR).
Some big names coming to the UK in the coming weeks, so it could be an expensive tme if you want to see all your heroes. An expensive time to just go to this gig in fact. Still, there is thrree top-notch performers on the bill and this is set to be a classic night not to be missed. Make sure you get down to the Hammersmith Apollo on Saturday 2nd November.
Whether accidental or intentional comedy, the iTunes tags that accompany Ghostface Killah’s ninth album classify “Apollo Kids” as country music. Of course, Dennis Coles isn’t pulling a Nelly and enlisting Tim McGraw to croon the hook on “Handcuffing Them Ho’s”, but in its rigorous devotion to genre standards, it resembles a triumph from a veteran Nashville musician.
There’d been a lot of hype surrounding this show, and with Wu Tang known for their non appearances, lack luster efforts and with one or two other recent bizarre performances from other much hyped US mc’s, the question was could they deliver?
