Rising Reggae Phenom, Skull; who marked a milestone in music history by being the first Korean artist to chart at number two on the Billboard Hip Hop / R&B Singles Chart with his single Boom Di Boom Di was snatched from the throws of imminent success almost two years ago when he was drafted by the S. Korean Army.
David Kim is a 12 year old Korean Boy who lives in Orange County where he and his friends until just a few short months ago would memorize and recite the lyrics of their favorite rap artist, 50 Cent, Young Jeezy, or whoever the flava of the month was. Sadly none of these rappers ever had a last name like Kim or Lee. David is one of a multitude of Korean American kids who have had until recently no representative in American Pop Culture.
Reggae artist, Skull debuted this week on Billboard with his first single, "Boom Di Boom Di" at number 16 on the Hot R&B / Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart and number 31 on the Hot Singles Sales chart. "Boom Di Boom Di" is buzzing in the clubs in Jamaica, getting spins on Irie FM, has an accompanying 3D animated music video which was recently added on MTV Tempo in the Caribbean, is gaining steam in the U.S. and on MTV Base in the UK.
