I met up with emcee / producer Breis (pronounced Breeze) in Brixton to discuss all things hip-hop and more. Finding a table in the sun, the interview turned into a chilled out conversation as Breis is a more mature kind of artist making a change from some of the negative attitudes currently pervasive in UK hip-hop.

The Identity EP sounds close to what you might get if Kanye West, Fela Kuti and Coldplay were locked up in a studio together. Breis (pronounced breeze) tackles the concept of identity more honestly and skilfully than most emcees ever could. His British and Nigerian identities are displayed equally, both musically and lyrically throughout the EP.
Breis (breeze) is a London based rap artist originally from Nigeria. He describes his music as BAM (British-African Music), a fusion of hip hop, jazz and African percussion. He has toured internationally in various countries such as France, Portugal, New York, Mauritius, Norway and Japan to name but a few. He has shared the stage with world class artists such as Afro beat musician Dele Sosimi, Dead Prez, Ty, Les Nubians, Omar Sosa, and Kim Burrell.
