Tinchy Stryder is the biggest selling UK male artist of the year. With two number 1 singles, a certified gold album, a much-in-demand clothing line and a sold out headline tour under his belt, it is no surprise that he has been described as ‘Britain’s hottest new rapper’ (Guardian) who ‘has been instrumental in turning British Urban music from a minority interest into a commercially successful mainstream scene’ (The Times).

Calvin Harris, Basement Jaxx, Dizzie Rascal, David Guetta, Tinchy Stryder, Alexander Burke, Egypt, Cascada, Mr Hudson, Daniel Merriweather all receive nominations at this year’s 7th annual Urban Music Awards. The UMA’s returns to the UK to celebrate its 7th anniversary after a successful show in New York earlier on in July this year.
Tinchy Stryder, the UK ’s biggest selling male solo artist this year, is today announced as the ambassador of the vinspired national awards 2009. Celebrating the achievements of 16-25 year old volunteers, Tinchy is supporting the awards event to help recognise the outstanding contributions young people have made to their community over the last year through all forms of volunteering. Dragon’s Den star James Caan is also supporting the awards.
2009 is the 50th anniversary of the founding of Island Records, arguably the most prestigious record label in the history of British music. To mark this milestone the label is collaborating with Island founder Chris Blackwell to arrange the Island 50 festival.
Premier UK producer Davinche is currently putting the finishing touches on his debut album. The 23-year-old producer has been on the grime scene since his late teens and brought us underground smashes such as Tinchy Stryder’s Breakaway and Kano’s Ps & Qs.
3Face aka Jamie is one of those acts that seems to burst out of nowhere, probably because I have not been paying attention. He is a product of the Gold Seal Project - an initiative which gives training and mentoring to youths in the areas of music production and DJing etc.
