Lyrics:

Thinking back who would I be
if I never met you’s and you never met me
saidwe’d be friends to the end from the start
and there’s always a place for you here in my heart (like family)
time flew then our lives grew
we drifted apart like day and night do
said we’d be friends to end from the start
and there’s

Always a place for you here in my heart

I used to lay awake at night and scan the stars
examine every part of the sparse avatars
wishing I’d a brother I could to
that boxed like rocky
and stood tall and broad as john coffee
half the time only child I was on my own
the other half I was running wild with my mates
sure there were bullies outside and you had to learn to fight
you couldn’t hide or run away
every morning through the door straight down the stairs
out the close chewing toast trying to see who’s there
optimism was living in the city air
or maybe it was just that I was 7 and I didn’t care
we’d get a sidey with the coats for the goal posts
knowing when a goals scored a foes going to throw blows
first team to 21’s the winner
I thought those days would last forever

Thinking back who would I be
if I never met you’s and you never met me
said we’d be friends to the end from the start
and there’s always a place for you here in my heart (like family)
time flew then our lives grew
we drifted apart like day and night do
said we’d be friends to end from the start
and there’s

Always a place for you here in my heart

We’d run the streets
from winter to the summer heat
young team encouraging one another’s dumb deeds
full of hubris sure we’re going to succeed
youthful exuberance saw numerous burst heads
at such speed we had an urgency to compete
like jumping off the school roof that felt about a hundred feet
somebody’s mum would hurl pieces out for us to eat
the street was paradise then ’til it turned bleak
fall out, fall back in again
talk about all the dreams we were going to claim
walk about through the scheme in the teaming rain
unaware of upcoming hardship and pain
but who would I be without you’s
if I walked these streets wearing different shoes
with a different accent and different views
it’s true…I miss you’s
Thinking back who would I be
if I never met you’s and you never met me
said we’d be friends to the end from the start
and there’s always a place for you here in my heart (like family)
time flew then our lives grew
we drifted apart like day and night do
said we’d be friends to end from the start
and there’s

Always a place for you here in my heart
