As part of “Black History Month” BIFF East & East End Film Society present a screening of documentary feature film “The Hip Hop Project” produced by Bruce Willis & Queen Latifah and backed by Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons (founder of Def Jam Records & Baby Phat clothing line).
Fed up with Rap music's focus on money, guns & violence, the feature follows former homeless teenager “Kazi” and a group of young people he helps to inspire and transform their lives using Hip Hop culture as a vehicle for self-development and personal discovery in which Kazi challenges the teens to write music about their life stories. The story is one of hope, healing and the realization of dreams.
The screening is held on Saturday 27th October from 7pm at Rich Mix, Bethnal Green Road, London E1. Guest speakers will be confirmed, followed by a networking reception. Entry is just £3 with a £1 donation going towards the BFM “Support Black British Cinema” campaign.
