British rapper Speech Debelle reveals new single Wayward, a smooth alternative Hip Hop joint, combining her signature blend of soul and Ancestral Rap.
Of the new single, Speech says: “It has two meanings: the shadow self and the masculine-feminine energy. I wanted to wear a suit to show myself in my masculine energy, learning and leaning into the feminine in me, played by dancer, Rónké Olágúnjú“.
Music video director Aiden Harmitt-Williams commented, “Immediately upon having the idea for the song, I wanted us to shoot it in one take-style, having it flow and ebb as the song does“.
Her highly-anticipated fourth album ‘Sunday Dinner On A Monday‘ is released next month (9th June 2023) and examines family, friends, lineage, and ancestral DNA through the lens of afro-futurism.
