Sony Ericsson adds a new spin to the B-Boy Championships

After a successful decade the B-Boy Championships are evolving, and new title sponsor, Sony Ericsson, are breakin’ the mould with new formats and features in this year’s line-up. For the first time in the Championship’s history, the UK eliminators, billed as Regional Conflict, will be held nationwide in May, allowing the best crews from around the country to test their skills against one another.

By enabling crews to display their footwork, style, power moves and freezes before the B-Boy judges, the Sony Ericsson B-Boy Championships will be embracing the diversity and individual flavour that the UK’s urban culture has to offer. The winners from ‘Regional Conflict’ will then compete at the National B-Boy Finals at Ocean 1 in Hackney, London in July. With heats for Solo Poppin and the infamous Crew Battles taking place on stage, the UK Finals will show the crowd that the UK has the skillz and attitude to compete with the world’s best.

2007 is also a landmark year for the B-Boy community as The Rock Steady Crew, presided over by innovator and B-Boy host Crazy Legs, are celebrating their 30th Anniversary. As always Crazy Legs will be hosting the climax of the Championships in October – at the Sony Ericsson UK B-Boy Championships – World Finals @ the Brixton Academy – where the world’s very best Poppers, Lockers, Solo B-Boys and Crews will be vying for the respect, acclaim and adoration of the B-Boy community and the legendary B-Boy Champs crowd! With national pride at stake, and reputations on the line, the World Finals will witness the elite cutting every move in the book in a bid to be crowned the best.

Sony Ericsson is also set to deliver all the passion, flair, beats and news from the world of the B-Boys via a dedicated online community. Once live, the site will appeal to a global B-Boy fan base and enable visitors to fully interact with the Sony Ericsson B-Boy Championships. So whether it’s swipes from Swindon or headspins from Helsinki, the best and worst will be online for all to judge.

For further details of both the Sony Ericsson ‘Regional Conflict’ eliminators / series and the new website keep your eyes peeled. Updates will be available from http://www.bboychampionships.com
