The RoaR Showcase

It’s back! “The RoaR Showcase” returns on Wednesday 31st January 2007 from 7pm – 10pm @ Oh Art! Oxford House, Derbyshire Street (opposite Tesco) Bethnal Green London E2. Tickets are £7. The event has become one of the leading Urban Music Showcase events promoting independent & unsigned artists in the UK.

Hosting the show is Twin B (BBC 1xtra). The line up includes – Bernita Brumant, Tef-Co, Ms Browne, Chocolate Blonde, Nutty NRG, AddiKshun, Mastarkey, Dramacide, Heshima, Gripa & Nu MC’s.

Held every 2-3 months, “The RoaR Showcase” recognises there to be a problem within the UK urban music scene that (on average) only 1-2 acts break into the mainstream each year. With the latest being Sway & Akala. Two hugely talented artists, but with no real mainstream marketing or chart success! The concept of “The RoaR Showcase” is to generate greater publicity for acts to get exposure, whereby it is virtually impossible for the mainstream recording industry to ignore their talent and creativity.

“The RoaR Showcase” has attracted representatives from various music labels such as Sony, Island, Universal, Warner Music and a host of independent labels too. It has previously received media attention from Channel 4, Kiss fm, Radio One, Live Listings Magazine, The Voice Newspaper & New Nation Newspaper and variety of music specialist magazines.

Not only does the show provide a platform for UK urban acts to perform. It also welcomes a select panel of top representatives from the music industry at each event to comment on performances and offer advice to aspiring musicians / artists. For the forhcoming show the panel includes J (Twylyte Team), Natty B (Choice FM), & Uyi (Choong Family). Previous panelists have included Cleopatra, Xavier, Fusion, Glamma Kid, Soundbwoy Entertainment, Roll Deep & Aswad amongst others.
